Trifongo Recipe
Trifongo is a traditional Dominican dish consisting of mashed, fried plantains, yuca, and breadfruit. Here is a recipe for Trifongo:
Ingredients:
- 3 green plantains
- 1 yuca
- 1 breadfruit
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- Salt, to taste
- 1/4 cup diced onion
- 1/4 cup diced bell pepper
- 1/4 cup diced tomato
Instructions:
- Peel and slice the plantains, yuca, and breadfruit into small pieces.
- Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the plantains, yuca, and breadfruit to the pan and cook until they are soft and starting to brown, about 10-15 minutes.
- Use a potato masher or fork to mash the cooked plantains, yuca, and breadfruit until they are combined and resemble a mash.
- Add salt to taste and mix in the diced onion, bell pepper, and tomato.
- Serve hot as a side dish or topping for grilled meats. Enjoy!
