Instructions
Mixing The Dough
In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the egg and mix until well combined.
Whisk together the flour, anise seeds, ground cinnamon, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a dough forms.
Add the orange juice and zest, continuing to mix until the dough is smooth.
Rolling The Dough
Divide the dough into two equal parts and shape them into disks.
Wrap each disk in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
Shaping The Biscochitos
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll out the chilled dough to about ¼ inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
Use cookie cutters to cut the dough into desired shapes, traditionally stars, flowers, or simple circles.
Baking The Biscochitos
Place the shaped cookies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.
