Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate & Add-ins:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips for extra richness
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts optional

Instructions

  • Preheat & Prepare – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit , or 175 degrees Celcius. Coat an 8 x 8inch baking pan with shortening or parchment paper for easy release from the pan.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients – In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. This ensures even distribution and prevents clumping.
  • Combine Wet Ingredients – In a separate large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth. Drop eggs in and vanilla extract, and mix well.
  • Incorporate Dry & Wet Ingredients – Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently with a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  • Add Chocolate Chips & Nuts – Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts if using. This adds extra texture and a deep, chocolatey flavor.
  • Bake – Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Cool & Serve – Before slicing, allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes. This helps them set properly and prevents crumbling.
