Ingredients
  

  • 12 sheets American Beauty® Lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb Italian sausage casings removed
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp dried parsley flakes
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • 4 cups pasta sauce marinara or meat sauce
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions
 

  • Cook The Noodles: Begin by cooking the American Beauty Lasagna noodles according to the instructions on the box. Drain and set aside.
  • Prepare The Meat Filling: In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks, until it’s browned and fully cooked through (about 8 minutes). Drain any excess fat.
  • Mix The Ricotta Filling: In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, dried parsley flakes, ground nutmeg, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Stir until everything is well mixed.

Assemble The Lasagna:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Lightly coat the bottom of a 9 × 13-inch baking dish with pasta sauce.
  • Add a layer of cooked lasagna noodles (3-4 noodles, depending on the size of your dish).
  • Spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
  • Sprinkle 1/3 of the cooked sausage over the ricotta.
  • Top with 1 cup of shredded mozzarella and a spoonful of sauce.
  • Repeat this process for two more layers.
  • Finally, sprinkle the remaining sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese over the noodles.
  • Bake: Bake the dish for thirty minutes with the foil covering it. After 20 more minutes of baking, take off the foil and continue baking until the cheese turns golden and bubbling.
  • Rest And Serve: Let the lasagna sit for about 10 minutes before slicing. This helps the layers set and makes for easier serving!
