Ingredients

  • 1 cup Albers Yellow Cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

Preheat Your Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place a 9×9-inch baking dish or a cast-iron skillet in the oven while it preheats.

Prepare The Dry Ingredients:

  • Combine the Albers Yellow Cornmeal, all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Mix them well until fully combined.

Create The Wet Mixture:

  • Whisk together the buttermilk, melted butter, and eggs in another bowl until the mixture is smooth.

Combine Dry And Wet Mixtures:

  • Empty the wet blend into the dry fixings and mix until recently consolidated. Be mindful so as not to overmix; a couple of protuberances are OK.

Bake The Cornbread:

  • Carefully remove the hot baking dish or skillet from the oven and add a small amount of butter, allowing it to melt and coat the bottom evenly. Pour the cornbread batter into the hot dish or skillet and spread it out evenly.

Bake:

  • Place the dish or skillet back in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the cornbread is golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Serve Warm:

  • Once done, remove the cornbread from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Then, slice it into squares and serve warm.
