Ingredients

  • 4 hake fillets about 6-8 oz each
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare The Fillets

  • Pat the hake fillets dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. This ensures a crispy coating.
  • Season both sides with sea salt and ground black pepper.

Step 2: Coat The Fillets

  • Place the flour in a shallow dish.
  • Dredge each fillet in flour just enough to coat it, then shake off any excess.

Step 3: Heat The Pan

  • In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil and butter over medium heat.
  • Once the butter melts and starts to foam, it’s ready for the fish.

Step 4: Cook The Hake

  • Place the fillets in the skillet, presentation side down. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Gently flip the fillets and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side.
  • Pro Tip: Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure even cooking and crispiness.

Step 5: Serve And Enjoy

  • Transfer the cooked fillets to a serving plate.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges.
