Instructions
Prep Work:
Let’s start by getting everything ready. Soak your dried chipotle peppers in hot water for about 15 minutes until they’re nice and soft.
Once they’re softened, remove the stems and seeds from the chipotle peppers.
Chop up your fresh habanero peppers, garlic, onion, and tomatoes.
Sauté Aromatics:
Heat up some olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
Toss in your minced garlic and diced onion and let them cook until they’re soft and smell amazing about 3-4 minutes.
Simmering:
Now, add your chopped tomatoes, soaked chipotle peppers, and fresh habanero peppers to the saucepan.
Pour in the water and vinegar, and don’t forget to sprinkle in the salt and sugar.
Give everything a good stir and let it simmer uncovered for 10-15 minutes until the peppers are soft and the flavors have come together beautifully.
Blend And Strain:
Once your mixture has cooled down a bit, pour it into a blender.
Blend it up until it’s nice and smooth, making sure there are no big chunks left.
If you want your hot sauce super smooth, you can strain it through a fine mesh sieve to get rid of any leftover bits.
Adjust Consistency And Seasoning:
Take a taste of your hot sauce and see if it needs anything else. Maybe a little more salt or sugar?
If it’s too thick for your liking, you can thin it out with a bit more water or vinegar.
