Ingredients

  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Mirin
  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger grated
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup Cold Water

Instructions

  • Combine The Liquid Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, mix 1 cup water, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, and mirin. Simmer on medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Add Flavor Enhancers: Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger. Bring the mixture to a slight simmer, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  • Thicken The Sauce: Dissolve cornstarch in 1/4 cup of cold water to create a slurry. Gradually whisk this into the saucepan. Continue to simmer until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency, usually around 2-3 minutes.
  • Cool And Store: Allow the sauce to cool before transferring it to an airtight container. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week or frozen for a longer shelf life.
