Homemade K&W Spaghetti Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound of spaghetti
  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 can 28 ounces of crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can 6 ounces of tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes optional
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for garnish

Instructions
 

Preparing The Pasta

  • Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil.
  • Add a pinch of salt and the spaghetti to the boiling water.
  • Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until it’s al dente.
  • Drain the cooked spaghetti and set it aside.

Making The Tomato Sauce

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until they become translucent.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, black pepper, dried basil, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes (if you want some heat).
  • Simmer the sauce for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.

Cooking The Ground Beef

  • While the tomato sauce is simmering, in another skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat.
  • Break the beef into small pieces and cook until it’s browned and cooked through.
  • Drain any excess fat from the beef.

Combining The Sauce And Beef

  • Once the tomato sauce has thickened, add the cooked ground beef to the sauce.
  • Simmer the mixture for an additional 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
