Instructions
Preparing The Pasta
Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil.
Add a pinch of salt and the spaghetti to the boiling water.
Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until it’s al dente.
Drain the cooked spaghetti and set it aside.
Making The Tomato Sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until they become translucent.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, black pepper, dried basil, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes (if you want some heat).
Simmer the sauce for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.
Cooking The Ground Beef
While the tomato sauce is simmering, in another skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat.
Break the beef into small pieces and cook until it’s browned and cooked through.
Drain any excess fat from the beef.
Combining The Sauce And Beef
Once the tomato sauce has thickened, add the cooked ground beef to the sauce.
Simmer the mixture for an additional 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
