Ingredients

  • 1 can 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: For more heat use 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper.

Instructions

  • Combine The Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, mix together the tomato sauce, water, and white vinegar. Stir until well combined.
  • Add The Spices: Gently stir in the chili powder, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, and sugar. If you’re a fan of heat, add the cayenne pepper. Mix well.
  • Simmer The Sauce: Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. This process allows the flavors to meld together beautifully.
  • Adjust The Seasoning: Taste the sauce and adjust the salt as needed. You can add a little more water if you prefer a thinner consistency.
  • Cool And Store: Remove the sauce from the heat and allow it to cool. After it cools, put it in an airtight container. The sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
