Instructions

Gather Your Ingredients:

  • Start by gathering all the ingredients you’ll need for your homemade Tabasco Pepper Sauce recipe. Make sure you have fresh, ripe Tabasco peppers on hand.

Prep The Peppers:

  • Wash and dry the Tabasco peppers thoroughly.
  • Remove the stems and roughly chop them. Don’t forget to wear gloves to protect your hands from the heat of the peppers.

Blend The Peppers:

  • Place the chopped Tabasco peppers and garlic cloves in a blender or food processor.
  • Pulse until you achieve a smooth puree. You may need to add a bit of white vinegar to help with blending.

Combine With Salt:

  • Transfer the pepper puree into a glass jar or container.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of salt to the puree and mix well.

Fermentation Process:

  • Cover the jar with a clean cloth secured with a rubber band.
  • Allow the mixture to ferment at room temperature for about 2-3 weeks. Stir it once a day during this time.

Strain The Mixture:

  • After fermentation, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove any solids.

Add Vinegar:

  • Stir in 1 cup of white vinegar into the strained pepper liquid.

Bottle Your Sauce:

  • Carefully pour your homemade Tabasco Pepper Sauce into clean, sterilized bottles or containers. Seal them tightly.

Store And Enjoy:

  • Store your homemade Tabasco Pepper Sauce in a cool, dark place. Its flavor will continue to evolve over time.
  • Use it as a condiment for your favorite dishes, from eggs and tacos to soups and marinades.
