Start by bringing water to a boil in a pot or kettle. The amount of water will depend on how many cups of tea you wish to make.
Step 2: Add Tea Leaves And Spices
Once the water reaches a rolling boil, add black tea leaves and spices of your choice. A teaspoon of tea leaves and a pinch of spices should suffice for a single cup of tea. Adjust the quantities according to your taste preferences.
Step 3: Simmer And Infuse
Lower the heat and allow the tea leaves and spices to simmer in the water for a few minutes. This simmering process allows the flavors to infuse and develop, resulting in a robust and aromatic brew.
Step 4: Add Milk And Sugar
After simmering, add milk to the tea mixture. The ratio of milk to water depends on personal preference, but a 50:50 ratio is commonly used. Next, add sugar to taste and stir gently until dissolved.
Step 5: Strain And Serve
Once the tea has achieved the desired color and strength, strain it into teacups or mugs using a fine-mesh strainer. Pakistani tea is traditionally served in small, handleless cups called “qawahs.”
