Instructions
Step 1: Boil The Gemelli Pasta
Fill a large pot with water and add a tablespoon of salt.
Bring the water to a boil.
Add the gemelli pasta and cook according to the package instructions until it’s al dente.
Drain the pasta and drizzle it with 2 tablespoons of olive oil to prevent sticking.
Step 2: Prepare The Pomodoro Sauce
Heat 2 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add the minced garlic and sauté for about a minute until it’s fragrant.
Add the diced tomatoes and simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing them to break down and release their juices.
Stir in the chopped basil leaves and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if desired.
Let the sauce simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
Step 3: Combine Pasta And Sauce
Add the cooked gemelli pasta to the Pomodoro sauce.
Toss everything together until the pasta is well-coated with the sauce.
Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
